MY NAME IS A BRAND: STUDENTS PLAY WITH MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES LOGOS

Brands, trademarks and logos surround us. They besiege us. They became part of our lives. Often we identify a brand with our character and our style. And it’s really funny what the Holy Family Institute’s students in Comonte di Seriate  (Italy) did. They enjoyed to play with their names drawing  internationally known brands graphs. Leaded by their  Professor mrs. Falconi, the students have proposed multinational companies whose trademarks are around us (Pizza Hut, Coke, Sprite, Vodafone, McDonald’s, Apple, Google, Telecom Italy, Moncler, Corona, Kung Fu Panda and others). It was an irresistible game that has become a  good exercise in observation too.

 

IL MIO NOME E’ UN MARCHIO

 I marchi ci circondano. Ci assediano. Son entrati a far parte della nostra vita. Spesso, in un marchio ci riconosciamo, con il nostro carattere e con il nostro stile. Ed è simpatico quello che hanno fatto gli studenti dell’Istituto Sacra Famiglia di Comonte di Seriate (Bergamo) che si sono divertiti a rivestire i propri nomi con i tratti grafici di noti marchi di prodotti. Sotto la guida della docente prof.ssa Falconi, gli studenti hanno proposto i loghi di società multinazionali i cui, marchi, sono sotto gli occhi di tutti (Pizza Hut, Coke, Sprite, Vodafone, Mc Donald’s, Apple, Google, Telecom Italia, Moncler, Corona, Kung Fu Panda e altri). Un irresistibile gioco che si è trasformato anche in un bell’esercizio di osservazione.

A few minutes ago my site stats have counted 20.000 views! I have not so much to say. Only some words: thanks for your friendship, appreciation and encouragement. When I started my WordPress blog – a few months ago – I didn’t imagine to meet so many friends and to achieve so much traffic. I entered into a new communication dimension – also respect to my own art activity – sharin’ ideas, experiences and dreams. So, Thanks again for your kind support. 20.000: TANTE GRAZIE!

Qualche minuto fa il contatore delle statistiche sugli accessi al mio blog ha segnato la quota dei 20.000 visitatori. Solo poche parole per ringraziarvi per l’amicizia, gli apprezzamenti e l’incoraggiamento. Quando ho iniziato questo blog su WordPress – pochi mesi fa – non immaginavo di potere incontrare qui tanti amici e raggiungere questi livelli di traffico in fatto di visitatori al sito. Sono entrato in una nuova dimensione della comunicazione – anche rispetto al mio genere artistico – scambiando idee, sogni ed esperienze con tantissima gente. “LIKE ECHOES” VIDEOCLIP: SUSAN KAHN POEM GOES WITH ROBERTO ALBORGHETTI ART

A sensorial experience with a great soundtrack: “Flying” by pianist and composer Mike Strickland

When I read Susan Kahn “Empty Moon” poem at her  “Emptinesscafe”Blog, I instinctively thought to a recent “Lacer/actions” artwork I’ve created with my torn posters and urban signs images (“Voices and Echoes From The Cities”, 2011, Canvas+ mixed media, 70×50). I told Susan about that and she accepted the challenge to see some of her beautiful verses transferred on a videoclip. So, here’s the result…

Susan Kahn Poem and my artwork were fused in a 30 seconds videoclip. Inspiring words from the world meet an image of ripped ads and urban signs. From Animoto library I chose a capturing soundtrack, “Flying”, by talented composer, pianist and performer Mike Strickland. Welcome to a sensorial experience and to an emotional message-massage. Like echoes…like Lacer/actions.

 Pianist and composer Mike Strickland has been influenced by many styles of music and has evolved into a one-of-a-kind piano artist. Born and raised in Jackson Mississippi, he grew up listening to the great composers. His performance career started at the age of 9 when his father would encourage him to entertain dinner guests. After turning eighteen, he began to frequent the clubs and listened to great local blues talents. Formal music studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston and California State University at Northridge continued to expand his musical talents. Mike built a solid career as a performer, composer and recording artist. His own works were varied – some lush, orchestral and cinematic, some smooth jazz, some blues and boogie flavored and others almost new age. Sales of these CDs climbed to over 350,000 and are distributed throughout the nation and digitally throughout the world. He is known for his exceptional musicianship and arrangements, his virtuosic technique, and his unmatched ability to connect with the audience on a personal level. His daughter Elizabeth, a fine classical pianist, often joins him as a special guest.

Professional reporter, author and visual artist, Roberto Alborghetti has written more than thirty books (biographies, interviews, stories). He worked in magazines and newspapers and produced Tv documentaries. Editor in chief of magazines concerning didactic, education, edutainment and media literacy, he leads workshops and conferences and has won important journalism Prizes. “KEFALONIA, 1943”: MY ARTWORK TO REMEMBER AN UNPUNISHED MASSACRE AND THE STATE CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE

 

 Dr. Srini Pillay – Harvard psychiatrist, author, brain imaging researcher and columnist – says that art is a form of healing and it may help us to face tragedies and loss… I dedicated this artwork to Kefalonia massacre ( title: Kefalonia, 1943 – Victims & martyrs. The blood tracks # 1; canvas/mixed media, 87×57, Lacer/actions Project). My father Battista is a survivor of that terrible tragedy in which died 9.000 Italian soldiers (1943) killed and exterminated by German Nazis.

 Saturday January 28, 2012 – in the same days devoted in Italy to remember Shoah victims – Battista native Municipality dedicates him a conference and a ceremony (h.8,45 pm, Centro Sociale, Ambivere, Bergamo, Milan Area). Italian Council of Ministers Presidency has recently confered to Battista the “Medal of honor” established for Italian civilians and militaries deported and interned in nazi concentration camps.

PUPILS VOICES TRY STOPPIN’ THE MASSACRE OF ACCIDENTS AT WORK

 

 Yesterday it was one of the busiest days for this blog. People were really struck by “Mydaddy” clip which focuses attention on the dramatic “war report” about a year (2011) of accidents at works in Italy (1,170 deads and over 775,000 injuries). The problem affects not only Italy, but all the so called “civilized world”. The numbers of deathes and injuries are really impressive, often forgotten by the media themselves, who give titles to the phenomenon only in the presence of emotional or numeric high-impact tragedies.

For this reason it is urgent to raise voice and the guard. Even with a message. How “Mydaddy” clip does. The videoclip supports “First in Safety”, an Italian social campaign for the prevention of accidents at work which invites schools – and young people – to confront the problem. This campaign – at its 10th edition – is promoted by ROSSINI TRADING Spa, ANMIL (the italian Association for injured people) and OKAY! monthly magazine. It’s unique in Italy and Europe and maybe in the global world (at least for continuity, originality and effectiveness).

“Mydaddy” videoclip was conceived and produced by Roberto Alborghetti, reporter, writer and visual artist, with the participation of talented students of the second class of the Primary School “P.Mazzi” in Piancastagnaio (Siena). Uploaded on YouTube and VodPod– also in special version with English subtitles – and shared by multiple sites, the clip has become a sort of original spot not only for “First in Safety” campaign, but also for its aim to support the prevention message. Disarmingly simple yet remarkably effective, the video was made at the end of an educational workshop.

The pupils produced drawings on school safety and discussed about workplace injuries that involved mom and dad (from here the title). The clip – made in collaboration with the School Institute in Piancastagnaio, the Municipality of Piancastagnaio (with the major Fabrizio Agnorelli) and Osa non-profit organization (with President Nicola Cirocco) – is an original document on what school may and must do about prevention of accidents at work. As stated in the videoclip final message, “prevention is the lethal weapon to stop the war bulletin” of the deaths and injuries at work.

STEPS ON LACER/ACTIONS

A ROBERTO ALBORGHETTI artwork as has never been seen before… The clip shows an out-of-view “Lacer/actions”. Or better: an image caught under a different perspective. Roberto Alborghetti brings his eyes — and camera eye — inside one of his pictures of torn posters and urban signs. It’s surely a different way to watch “And a big fire storm poured on earth…” (Canvas, 93×62, 2010). Capturing soundtrack: it’s Kyrie (live version) composed by Lorenzo Perosi.

 This Season’s Greetings card fuses, in an “Haiga”, words (“Haiku”) and visual art. The image (lithograph, 50×70) is part of “Lacer/actions” collection, concerning my research about torn posters and urban signs. I thank my “haiga” teacher: poet, musician and producer Joshua Sellers, from West Memphis (Arkansas, Usa).

 ABOUT HAIGA

Haiga is a style of Japanese painting based on the aesthetics of haikai, from which haiku poetry derives, which often accompanied such poems in a single piece. Like the poetic forms it accompanied, haiga was based on simple, yet often profound, observations of the everyday world. Stephen Addiss points out that “since they are both created with the same brush and ink, adding an image to a haiku poem was… a natural activity.”

Just as haiku often internally juxtapose two images, haiga may also contain a juxtaposition between the haiku itself and the art work. The art work does not necessarily directly represent the images presented in the haiku. Stylistically, haiga vary widely based on the preferences and training of the individual painter, but generally show influences of formal Kanō school painting, minimalist Zen painting, and Ōtsu-e, while sharing much of the aesthetic attitudes of the nanga tradition. Some were reproduced as woodblock prints. The subjects painted likewise vary widely, but are generally elements mentioned in the calligraphy, or poetic images which add meaning or depth to that expressed by the poem.
