This is the third composition created by fellow blogger, Meredith (healingminds@WordPress.com) for a four composition series titled “Dreams & Lacer/actions: Therapeutical Haiga”. Meredith – who lives in Lafayette, Indiana (USA) – shared a preview of my most recent images taken from torn posters and cities walls during my trips in the Netherlands and Italy. And, she began to create verses…

The third “Lacer/actions” art piece which inspired Meredith’s verses doesn’t come from torn posters. It is a sort of special preview about a new direction, or section or a new kind of images concerning my research of urban signs… I will talk about it very soon. I saw this “visual situation” in Milan. As all my pieces, it’s natural, realistic and not manipulated or enhanced image.

Meredith wrote this note about her verses and my art: 

I have very mixed feelings about them because they feel very transparent to me.  But, that is  art, and as I send this off I feel a sense of sending myself.  This picture touches me deeply, and I decided to not to use any other text than the haiku.”

I thank Meredith for this collaboration which is also a particular experimentation based on colors, images, words, thoughts, emotions and sensorial perception.

Faded faces stroll

     the walls of layered living.

    Yesterday softens.

I saw granite snow

     and touched the oneness.

     Ancient stories freeze.

     dot the misty,morning streets.

     Tissue clouds bring snow.

The second “Lacer/actions” art piece which inspired Meredith’s verses comes from a display I saw on a square at Como Lake (Italy). It is natural, and not manipulated or enhanced image.

Meredith wrote this note about the image: “This picture looked both very industrial and like a barren canyon in winter.  Both places may seem bleak but I see life.  Snow, clouds, and people all seem to drift in the same direction, whether moved by snow or racing, tissue clouds. I could not help but make a copy of this photo to run my fingers across as I listened to the whispered tales of mottled surfaces.” 

I thank Meredith for this collaboration which is also a particular experimentation based on colors, images, words, thoughts, emotions and sensorial perception.

SCENE FROM A DROWNED WORLD… BUT IT’S NOT A PAINTING!

No, it’s not a painting. It’s just one of my 35.000 Lacer/actions pieces. It’s an absolutely random image, not maniputated or digitally enhanced. I took it for my research about “The Torn (publi)City” (ripped posters and urban signs). It seems coming from a mysterious and drowned world. Or from our deep unconscious… I “captured” this image – the first of a series of 5 – along Netherlands streets.

 ABOUT LACER/ACTIONS PROJECT

LaceR/Actions”is a multidisciplinary project and research about urban signs and landscapes, especially concerning the apparent chaos of ripped papers from billboards and advertisings diplays. I have so far collected more than 35.000 images. Impressed by photocamera and transferred on canvas, reproduced on lithographs or textiles (as pure silk), or scanned in a video clip, the details of torn posters give new life to paper lacerations. I think in the lacerated advertisings is recognizable the “unwrapped” city, self-destroying in the messages, self-regenerating and self-reproducing in new visual elements, often contradictory, dissonant, discordant, but still surprisingly vital. 

Some “Lacer/Actions” artworks were published in a booklet-portfolio: “Pics of torn (publi)city”.  In July 2010, thirty thousand people visited my show “The Four Elements of LaceR/Actions” during the three days exhibition at Oriocenter (Milano Bergamo Orio Airport, Italy).Myartworks are also taking part of experiences about sensorial and emotional perceptions (sinestesys) concerning kinesiologic tests. In October 2010 I participated to “Parallax AF” in London (La Galleria, Royal Opera Arcade). One of my artwork will be kept at the new Contemporary Art Museum will open next September in Marche region (Italy). The next big Lacer/actions Show will take place in the enchanting XIII Century Rocca Aldobrandesca, a fortress in Tuscany (Monte Amiata, Piancastagnaio, Siena, Italy) from September 27 to November 4, 2012.

AN “ART THERAPY” PROJECT: FROM DISABILITY TO CREATIVITY / THE ENCHANTING ARTWORKS CREATED BY GUESTS OF “CASA FAMIGLIA” (ITALY)

Un Invito” (An Invitation) and “Pensieri a colori” (Thoughts in colors) are the titles of two books – recently published by Marna with Velar editing – which enchant and fascinate heart and eyes. They gather images, colors, thoughts and stories created by guests at Casa Famiglia (House Family)  located in Rivolta d’Adda (Cremona, Italy). Casa Famiglia –   a solidarity institution founded by father Francesco Spinelli – welcomes serious and severely disabled persons (with physical, mental and sensory problems) and people at higher risk of “abandonment” and “social exclusion and family emergencies.” The service provide an integrated and comprehensive response to the needs of the disabled persons supporting them in rehabilitation, promotion and development of potentialities. 

The two publications are moving in the wake of this attention. True artist’s hands, like those of Emiliana, Paola, Rosanna and Mariangela – with the collaboration of  employees and volunteers  –  put together a fascinating kaleidoscope of creativity, in a fascinating way of art therapy project. Different techniques artworks take us on a remarkable journey where perception and observation –  and the look of heart! – create colourful paintings and scenaries, communicating us emotions and feelings. It’s a sort of life story expressed from a “special point of view”. The artworks are made up of things and recycled materials, as stones, paper, sand… A rehabilitation project through the use of art instruments.

The activities started from a free association of ideas which revealed several images: children, nature, sea, forest, water and so on. Some of these elements were captured and translated into expressive images, through a process of creative experimentation.

During the weekly workshops were used different expressive materials such as acrylic paints, chalk, sand, sawdust, glitter, all produced on sheets of medium size and thickness, in order to facilitate a free flow of creativity and to establish a communication bridge with “outside” reality.  In every moment of this  experience the team involved has kept in mind the basic concept of the book project: “Diversity is an opportunity for discovery and confrontation.”

These two books are showing us how the human being – in every path of life – has the power to amaze us. And how disability can bring astonishing creativity.

UNDERGROUND POP ART: “LACER/ACTIONS” FROM A SUBWAY STATION IN ROME

A few weeks ago, at Tiburtina subway’s station, in Rome, I had the way to catch some interesting images for my “Lacer/actions” art project ( pics of ripped  poster and urban signs). Near the platform 1, I saw a torn poster which revealed bright colors and nice shapes. It was a harmonious whole reminding me some pop art expressions. Blue, red and yellow were the prevailing colors (and yellow and red are the colors of the official and historic Rome’s coat-of-arms). The torn poster lacerations showed layers of paper and… dust (due to building yard which is renewing Tiburtina tube station).               

 

LACER/AZIONI” POP DALLA STAZIONE METRO DI ROMA TIBURTINA

Alla stazione metro di Roma Tiburtina ho avuto modo di recente di “scovare”, su un tabellone delle affissioni pubblicitarie, delle immagini pop molto interessanti nel loro armonioso modo di essere assemblate (casualmente). I colori rosso, giallo e blu (i colori primari) sono prevalenti. Senza scordare che il giallo ed il rosso sono le tinte che campeggiamo nello storico stemma romano. Incredibili gli strati di carta, che si sono andati via sovrapponendo, insieme alla polvere, sollevata dai lavori in corso che stanno rinnovando la stazione di Tiburtina.   

AN “ART INSTALLATION” THAT AMSTERDAM DOESN’T KNOW TO HAVE… SO, LET’S BRING BACK OUR EYES ON THE STREETS…

  

This is the incredible big container where I took my images from (see my previous post:“4GOT10 TEARS” ON THE CONTAINER NEAR THE ROYAL PALACE )

It was located in Amsterdam centre – near the Royal Palace, in the very heart of the city – outside a building yard. Workers were putting in it every sort of materials. And passers-by didn’t noticed it at all… On a side of the big container I saw something… spectacular. A sort of “public art installation” that Amsterdam doesn’t know to have.

The four parts in which the container was divided showed four incredible scenes. They were a sort of thin paper films left when someone had taken away the posters.An unusual and compelling combination – white paper film, iron, rust, red, grey and green colors of the container – originated something great for my eyes. 

On request, I’m glad to present another selection of the images I took around the big container. All my “Lacer/actions” artworks are realistic, natural and not manipulated images.  So, enjoy them. Yes, they are pure street art. And we have to bring back our eyes on the streets, where we may find compelling open air galleries…

“4GOT10 TEARS” ON THE CONTAINER NEAR THE ROYAL PALACE / THE AMSTERDAM’S LACER/ACTIONS FILES #3

 

I catch my “Lacer/actions” – Images Of Torn (publi)City – in the most strange places of the world. But what I saw a few weeks ago, in Amsterdam city centre, is really unique. Location: near the Royal Palace, in the very heart of the city. Outside a building yard, there was a big iron container in which workers were putting every sort of materials. I think people didn’t noticed it at all… But on a side of the big container I saw something spectacular ( for me and for my research about torn posters and urban signs).

 

The four parts in which the container was divided showed four incredible scenes. They were a sort of thin paper films left when someone had taken away the posters.An unusual and compelling combination – white paper film, iron, rust, red, grey and green colors of the container – originated something great for my eyes. I worked a lot with my cameras and I also did a video with my mobile, documenting an exceptional situation.

 

So, I’m glad to present here a very little selection of the images I took around the big container, the “Art Container”. This is the third photo gallery about my “Amsterdam’s Lacer/actions Files” dedicated to a three images series I “captured” in Netherlands during a recent trip. I like to repeat that all my “Lacer/actions” artworks are realistic, natural and not manipulated images.  So, enjoy my “Amsterdam’s Lacer/actions Files #3”, that I titled “4got10 tears”. Public art on a public place, in the shade of Royal Palace…
