“CRACKS”: THE MOST VIEWED VIDEO ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL IN 2013

*

“Cracks” is the most viewed clip on my YouTube channel in 2013. It’s a 30 seconds video which shows some of my “cracks works” created for  Lacer/actions Project.

Close to my researches about torn and decomposed publicity posters, I worked  on metal, plastic or stony surfaces, or metal and plastic platings. So, I entered the wonderful world of Cracks… We are surrounded by cracks. We live in a planet of cracks. And cracks may be considered as a life’s metaphor. Yes, cracks as “an active aesthetical appreciation” of what we call the disturbing elements of imperfection.
Through cracks magnifications I discovered other stunning textures in what we usually consider waste materials.

My Cracks are realistic, natural, random and not enhanced images, as you see in this videoclip, which was the most viewed on my YouTube channel during 2013.

“REVOLUTIONARY CHOPIN”: TALENTED PIANIST SOFIYA URYVAYEVA MEETS “LACER/ACTIONS” WORKS. THE CLIP

*

Sofiya Uryvayeva is a talented pianist. I was struck by her music and by her power to do magics with the piano. And she was fascinated by my Lacer/actions artworks (images from details of torn publicity posters, urban signs and cracks). This clip mixes Sofiya music and my works. From her YouTube channel I choose an extraordinary track that Sofiya recorded live in June 11, 2011: “Chopin Revolutionary Etude”.

As someone said, Sofiya “projects her true love and passion for music with such intensity that the listener is swept into another world. Her tones and melodies are alive and vibrant; they appear from nowhere and seem to have a beating heart.”

I selected ten images that recall me in some ways the Chopin’s powerful melody. The clip has a lenght of only 30 seconds. Sofiya music transports us as well as “to places never before experienced: a whirlwind journey of emotion and excitement.”

Sofiya Uryvayeva was born in Siberia with music in her soul. She was just a little girl when a seasoned and learned man proclaimed, “This girl has something  very profound to say in music!” Since she was 13 years old, the young pianist has been actively concertizing throughout the world. At the age of eighteen Sofiya was awarded the President’s Scholarship of Ukraine a rare and distinguished honor in her home country. Subsequently she studied at the Odessa State Musical Academy and at the age of twenty was invited to Germany  for post-graduate study as recipient of a full scholarship from Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg. While in Germany, she earned a Master’s  Degree and Doctorate Degree in Music                  Performance, and performed in many concerts, including solo and chamber music programs, receiving the highest accolades and the most rave reviews from both the German public and press. Modern German composer P.M. Braun stated that Sofiya was “one of the best in her generation”.

In 2009 Sofiya moved to the USA – she was approved for US residency as an “alien of extraordinary ability” – where she has continued her burgeoning performing career. Her most recently performance took place at the Steinway Piano Gallery  in Miami which was filmed and broadcast on television, in addition to live performances on the South Florida Radio, at the Boca Raton Steinway Piano Gallery and at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach. Her concerts have been described by critics as “A Festival for All the Senses, for the Soul and for Life;” “Magic Ride on the Witch’s Broom;” and “Brilliant Technique with Soul”.

NEW VIDEO: “FALLING SNOW”, THE ETHEREAL SOUNDSCAPES OF FLUTE NINJA (笛忍者) + 21 R.A. ARTWORKS

***

The relaxing and mysterious music created by Flute Ninja (笛忍者) – composer, artist and musician – meets my “Lacer/Actions” works in a videoclip titled “Falling Snow”. The clip presents an original Flute Ninja (笛忍者) composition accompanied by an image series from my collection of pics from torn and decomposed publicity posters and urban tokens. The 21 works have white and green as prevailing colors, suggesting a sort of snow scenes from a winter garden… All the images come from a unique ripped poster that I saw some months ago along a street in Milan (Italy).

I’m very glad about this collaboration borned and created in distance thanks to the web: Flute Ninja (笛忍者) lives in Alabama (USA), he is composer, poet, shakuahachi player, martial artist (he enjoys drawing and painting nature and landscapes; his inspiration came from Bob Ross). Through  his YouTube channel NinjutsuLives, he spreads his passion for Japanese music and instruments as shakuahachi.

In “Falling Snow” composition (lenght: 3 minutes and 59 seconds). Flute Ninja (笛忍者) plays shinobue, a transverse Japanese bamboo flute which creates ethereal soundscapes. So welcome to this sensorial experience for ears, eyes, heart and mind… An invitation to stop for 4 minutes and go slowly…

VOICES & ECHOES…WITH THE WONDERFUL MUSIC BY MIKE STRICKLAND (WHO THANKS FOR THE CLIP!)

When I read Susan Kahn “Empty Moon” poem at her “Emptinesscafe”Blog, I instinctively thought to a “Lacer/actions” artwork I’ve created with my torn posters and urban signs images (“Voices and Echoes From The Cities”, 2011, Canvas+ mixed media, 70×50).

From Animoto library I chose a capturing soundtrack, “Flying”, by talented composer, pianist and performer Mike Strickland. He saw this clip through my You Tube channel and he kindly sent to me his beautiful comment. Thank you so much Mike!

I invite you sharing his wonderful music at his YT channel:

SOS StopOilSpill / MY VIDEO AND ART PIECES SUPPORTING FUERTEVENTURA (CANARY ISLANDS) CAMPAIGN AGAINST OIL EXPLORATION IN THE SEA

CLIP SOS StopOilSpill / ANIMOTO

My “Lacer/Actions” images against oil spill disasters: “And the sea waters rose and screamed all their fury”. This clip was created with my art pieces  – realistic and not manipulated images of torn and decomposed posters – and it supports Fuerteventura campaign against the central government’s decision (Spain) to allow oil exploration in Canary Islands (Biosphere Reserve).

I been in the beautiful and wild Fuerteventura last june. And I approached its problem. Local people and associations are raising protests. Greenpeace told that the planned oil spill – located in deep waters, at 3000 meters – would required 500 boats to act immediately in order to contain it. Fuerteventura doesn’t have the structure to be able to defend itself immediately against such a disaster…

Natalia Evora, Environment and Trasports Councillor in Fuerteventura, said to “Fuerteventura Magazine Hoy” : “First of all we must remember that in 21st Century we must speak of energies that do not pollute and we therefore think oil has become an obsolete industry… We must take into account the great damage and risks that this would create in our marine element, for biodiversity and for tourism…The Islands that are Biosphere Reserves, such as Fuerteventura, are creating another energy model and not one that is already being eliminated in many countries because of the problems it has created… An oil spill would immediately close the desalination plants that provide the water we consume”.
